NON Essere INGRATO

Siamo un'esistenza molto ingrata.

Ci ha dato così tanto, e senza che glielo chiedessimo. E siamo creature così ingrate, creature ingrate, che non ci prendiamo nemmeno la briga di guardare intorno a noi ciò che l'esistenza sta continuamente facendo per noi: il sole, la luna, le stelle, gli alberi, gli uccelli, gli animali, le persone. Stai vivendo in un sogno incredibilmente bello, ma devi essere sveglio. Solo allora nasce la gratitudine. Io chiamo questa gratitudine, la vera religione. Un uomo non ha bisogno di essere cristiano per essere religioso, non ha bisogno di essere indù per essere religioso. Tutto ciò di cui ha bisogno è una profonda gratitudine verso l'esistenza. Non ha bisogno di credere in Dio, non ha bisogno di credere nel paradiso e nell'inferno, solo un semplice fenomeno: una profonda e sentita gratitudine per il fatto che a questa esistenza sarebbe mancato qualcosa senza di te. Che questa vasta esistenza avesse bisogno di te, di nessun altro. E il tuo posto era vuoto prima di te, sarà vuoto dopo di te. È insostituibile. Questo dà una grande soddisfazione. Il più grande bisogno dell'uomo è di essere necessario. Tutta l'esistenza ha bisogno di te... Altrimenti non saresti qui!

We are very ungrateful existence.

It has given so much to us, and without our asking. And we are such ungrateful creatures, ungrateful creatures, that we don't even bother to look around what existence is continuously doing for us the sun, the moon, the stars, the trees, the birds, the animals, the people. You are living in a tremendously beautiful dream, but you have to be awake about it. Then only a gratefulness arises. I call that gratefulness, true religion. A man need not be a Christian to be religious, need not be a Hindu to be religious. All that need is a deep gratitude towards existence. he need not believe in God, he need not believe in heaven and hell just a simple phenomenon: a deep felt gratitude that this existence would have been missing something without you. That this vast existence needed you, no one else. And your place was empty before you, it will be empty after you. it is irreplaceable. That gives a great contentment. Man's greatest need is to be needed. whole existence needs you... Otherwise you would not have been here!
